Information for Authors

Enriched with new thematic sections (translations, reviews, in conversation, creative work, critical essays), the journal welcomes submissions in a variety of formats and topics. Please note that the journal’s official language is English, thus only manuscripts in English that have been previously edited and proofread will be considered for publication.

Submission Policies

Peer-reviewed articles: All manuscripts will be screened in a peer-review process by at least two readers. Submissions will have to reach us with a separate cover sheet providing the author’s name and contact information. Please, omit self-identifying information in the body of the text and all headers and footers. For the next submission deadline, please see the current Call for Submissions page. Interviews for publication: We are happy to accept submissions consisting of interviews with directors, actors, filmmakers, translators, or other artists who work on Pirandello or who connect themselves to Pirandellian themes. We accept interview submissions on a year-round rolling basis. For formatting guidelines, see below.
New translations: We regularly publish new translations of Pirandello’s work or translations relating to Pirandello’s work. We accept new translation submissions on a year-round rolling basis. For formatting guidelines, see below.
Original creative work: PSA is interested in furthering and disseminating creative work, as short stories, plays, poems, etc., that is inspired by or related to Pirandello. We accept original creative work submissions on a year-round rolling basis. For formatting guidelines, see below.
Book and performance reviews: We look forward to publishing book and performance reviews relating to Pirandello and encourages submissions of any relevant reviews to the editors. We accept original book and performance review submissions on a year-round rolling basis. For formatting guidelines, see below.

Formatting Guidelines

PSA follows the current MLA Style Manual. We suggest using in-text references, minimal endnotes, and including a list of works cited. Article submissions should generally be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, while book and theater reviews should typically not exceed 1,500 words. Please, do not use automatic formatting.
